A new AC installation is one of the biggest checks a Paradise Valley homeowner writes, and on a one-acre estate it is rarely a single unit. Most homes here run two to four condensers across zoned floor plans, with a guest casita and pool equipment adding load. That system cools through 110-degree summers for the next 15 to 20 years, and a poor install shows up on every power bill.

Local Roots is a family business. Chris and Stacia Hays grew up in Scottsdale and graduated from Chaparral High, then put in 24+ years in Valley HVAC, much of it on the kind of estates that ring Camelback and Mummy Mountain. The credentials back it up: Trane Comfort Specialist, NATE-certified technicians on the team, EPA Section 608, and Arizona ROC #358833. At the estimate you get a straight answer about what your home needs, not what fattens the invoice.

Before we quote a dollar, each zone gets its own Manual J sizing against the 107-degree Phoenix design day. SRP and APS rebate paperwork is ours to file, and the workmanship behind every install is backed for life. Call 602-560-8989 for a free in-home estimate. Financing is available.

What We Offer

Professional services for Paradise Valley homeowners.

Free In-Home Estimates

We measure every zone, run Manual J, and check ductwork and electrical on-site before quoting. No obligation.

Per-Zone Manual J Sizing

Each system gets its own load calc, not a whole-house guess, so every zone stays even in July.

Trane Comfort Specialist

Trane's top independent-dealer credential, with factory training, warranty backing, and the full Trane lineup for high-efficiency builds.

Phased Multi-Unit Replacements

Estates rarely replace everything at once. We plan matched-tonnage swaps so zones stay balanced as older units age out.

Lifetime Workmanship Warranty

We back our installation work for the life of the system. Manufacturer equipment warranties register separately at install.

Why Paradise Valley Homes Need Specialized Service

Paradise Valley estates are among the most demanding cooling jobs in the Valley. An oversized condenser short-cycles and never pulls humidity on a monsoon afternoon; an undersized one runs flat out through July and burns its compressor early. With three or four systems, one sizing mistake repeats across the house.

Why Multi-System Homes Need Per-Zone Sizing

A square-foot rule of thumb falls apart on a one-acre estate with walls of west-facing glass, high ceilings, and a casita on its own thermostat. Each zone carries its own solar gain and duct run, so we run a Manual J for every system. The master wing, the great room, and the guest quarters each get the tonnage they actually pull, not a house-wide average.

Rebates and Refrigerant

SRP and APS run heat-pump and high-efficiency rebate programs, and Trane adds seasonal rebates. We confirm eligibility and file the paperwork. New equipment now ships with R-454B, the low-GWP refrigerant that replaced R-410A under the AIM Act. R-22 systems in some longtime homes are better replaced than recharged, since the remaining supply rarely justifies a repair.

Your Neighbors, Your HVAC & Plumbing Team

Local Roots is family-owned by Chris and Stacia Hays, both Scottsdale natives who grew up minutes from Paradise Valley. They started Hays Cooling in 2001, ran it for nearly nineteen years, and sold in 2020. When the new owners let quality slide, the two came out of retirement and launched Local Roots.

Across 24+ years they have installed and serviced cooling across Paradise Valley's estate communities, from hillside homes on Mummy Mountain to gated lots off Camelback, where long equipment runs and crane sets are routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ac installation in paradise valley answered by our experts.

Ask Us Directly
Do I have to replace all my AC units at once?

No. Most Paradise Valley homes run several condensers that rarely wear out on the same schedule. We replace the failed system now and plan the others as they age, keeping tonnage and staging matched. At the estimate we flag which units still have real life left.

How much does a new AC system cost in Paradise Valley?

It depends on home size, the number of zones and units, equipment tier, and whether ductwork needs work. A per-zone Manual J sets the right tonnage, where any honest quote starts. Your free estimate includes tiered options, and SRP and APS rebates can offset qualifying systems.

What brands do you install?

On a multi-condenser estate, how the systems stage together matters as much as the badge. We spec Trane at the premium tier and RunTru by Trane for value zones, matched so temperatures hold even across the house. RunTru shares Trane's assembly line with fewer features at a lower price, and Trane's warranty covers both. We install as a Trane Comfort Specialist.

Can you set rooftop units on a hillside home?

Yes. Homes on Mummy Mountain and around Camelback sometimes need a crane to set rooftop equipment, and long line-set runs on hillside lots take planning. We map the lift, access path, and gated entry before install day.

What warranty comes with a new system installed by Local Roots?

Two warranties cover the system. Local Roots stands behind its workmanship for the equipment's full service life, so anything that fails because of our install, we fix. The Trane equipment carries a manufacturer warranty, generally 10 years on parts and up to 12 on the compressor, which we register within 60 days at install.
