A new AC is one of the three biggest checks most Scottsdale homeowners write, after the house and the car. The system you pick runs 8 to 10 months a year through 110°F+ summers and monsoon dust. A bad install shows up in your electric bill, your humidity, and the system's lifespan. The right install pays back across every cooling season for the next 15 to 20 years.

Local Roots is family-owned. Chris and Stacia Hays grew up in Scottsdale, both Chaparral High grads, and have been installing AC in the Valley for 24+ years. We are Trane Comfort Specialists, NATE-certified, AZ ROC #358833 licensed, and EPA Section 608 certified. Our job at the estimate is to tell you what your home actually needs, not what costs us the most to put in.

Every install starts with a Manual J load calculation sized for Phoenix's 107°F design day. We handle SRP and APS rebate paperwork on your behalf and back the workmanship for life. Call 602-560-8989 for a free in-home estimate. Financing is available.

What We Offer

Professional services for Scottsdale homeowners.

Free In-Home Estimates

Manual J Load Calculations

Every install sized for Phoenix's 107°F design day. No square-foot rules of thumb from milder climates.

Trane's highest independent dealer credential. Factory training, warranty backing, and access to the full Trane lineup including Choice, Priority, and Premier tiers.

Multi-Zone & Variable-Speed Systems

We back our installation work for the life of the system. Manufacturer warranties on equipment register separately at install.

Flexible Financing

Same-as-cash and low-monthly-payment options through our financing partners. We walk through current offers at the estimate.

Why Scottsdale Homes Need Specialized Service

Scottsdale homes demand properly sized and installed AC systems. An undersized unit in a 3,000+ square-foot North Scottsdale home runs constantly and burns out the compressor years early. An oversized unit in a South Scottsdale condo short-cycles, never pulls humidity, and leaves the house clammy on monsoon days. Proper Manual J load calculations are not optional in Scottsdale's climate.

Why Scottsdale Climate Matters for Installation

Summer temperatures regularly exceed 110°F, pushing AC equipment against its design envelope for months at a time. Attic-mounted air handlers see 140 to 160°F ambient in July, and return-air ducts running through hot attic pick up heat on the way back to the air handler. These factors change how we size and install in Scottsdale: load calculations account for the attic stack, line-set runs are insulated, and filter sizing handles the dust load without restricting airflow.

Rebates and Refrigerant

SRP and APS both run heat-pump and high-efficiency AC rebate programs. We confirm eligibility before installation and file the paperwork on your behalf at no extra cost. Eligibility lists update annually, so we verify current status when we quote the install.

As of 2026, new equipment ships with R-454B, a low-GWP A2L refrigerant that has replaced R-410A under the AIM Act phasedown. R-22 systems (still in some pre-2010 Scottsdale homes) should be replaced rather than recharged; the remaining supply is expensive and the math rarely pencils out.

Your Neighbors, Your HVAC & Plumbing Team

Local Roots is family-owned by Chris and Stacia Hays, both Scottsdale natives. Chris attended Chaparral High School, Cocopah Middle, and Pueblo and Mojave elementary schools in the Chaparral Park area. Stacia is also a Chaparral grad: Cocopah Middle and Anasazi Elementary. They built Hays Cooling here in 2001 and ran it for nearly two decades before private-equity ownership in 2020. They came back out of retirement to start Local Roots because service quality in the Valley had slipped.

Across 24+ years in the HVAC trade, Chris and Stacia have built deep relationships in Scottsdale's most established communities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ac installation in scottsdale answered by our experts.

Ask Us Directly
How long does AC installation take?

Most standard AC replacements finish in one day, 6 to 8 hours of crew time on-site. New installations with ductwork modifications or zoning additions take 2 to 3 days. We confirm the timeline at the in-home consultation, after we see the access path and the existing system.

How much does a new AC system cost in Scottsdale?

It depends on home size, system tier (single-stage, multi-stage, variable-speed), brand, and whether ductwork needs work. A Manual J load calculation determines the right tonnage for your home, which is the starting point for any quote. We provide a free in-home estimate with multiple equipment tier options so you can compare. SRP and APS rebates on qualifying high-efficiency systems can offset part of the install. Financing is available.

What brands do you install?

Trane at the high tier and RunTru by Trane at the value tier. RunTru is built in the same factory as Trane with simpler features at a lower equipment cost; both carry Trane warranty. We are Trane Comfort Specialists, the highest credential Trane awards to independent dealers. Brand is one decision in a Scottsdale install. Sizing is the one that determines whether the system actually keeps up in July.

What warranty comes with a new AC system installed by Local Roots?

New equipment carries the manufacturer warranty, which for Trane systems typically runs 10 years on parts and 10 to 12 years on the compressor (12 years on Premier-tier variable-speed systems) when registered within 60 days. We handle the registration at install. On top of the equipment warranty, Local Roots backs the workmanship for the life of the system. If something we installed fails because of how we installed it, we come back and make it right.

What rebates apply to high-efficiency systems?

SRP and APS both run heat-pump rebate programs for qualifying high-efficiency installations. SRP rebates can reach $1,150 on heat pumps; APS runs a parallel program with its own qualification list. Manufacturer rebates from Trane and other brands run seasonally on top of utility rebates. We confirm eligibility before quoting and file the rebate paperwork on your behalf at no extra cost. Eligibility lists update annually, so we verify current status at the in-home estimate.
