Trane Choice 14 Gas System
Formerly XR15
The Trane Choice 14 gas system pairs a single-stage air conditioner (formerly the XR15) with a compatible Trane gas furnace. This is the entry point to Trane's split gas lineup, delivering reliable cooling and gas heating backed by Trane's build quality and our lifetime workmanship warranty.
The air conditioner uses the same Climatuff compressor and Spine Fin coil technology as the heat pump version, so you get the same cooling performance and durability. The difference is on the heating side: instead of a reversing valve (heat pump), this system uses a natural gas furnace for faster, higher-temperature heating.
Key Features
Climatuff Compressor
Trane's reliable single-stage compressor built for Arizona's extreme cooling demands.
Spine Fin Outdoor Coil
Corrosion-resistant coil that handles Arizona dust, hard water overspray, and monsoon conditions.
Gas Furnace Heating
Paired with a Trane gas furnace (80% or 95%+ AFUE options) for rapid, high-temperature heating.

Is This the Right System for You?
Ideal For
The Choice 14 gas system is a good fit for budget-conscious homeowners with existing gas infrastructure who prefer gas heating. It's also the right call for homes where gas rates are low enough to make gas heating more economical than a heat pump.
Consider an Alternative If
For most Arizona homes, we recommend a heat pump over a gas system. Heat pumps are more efficient for heating in our mild winters and don't require gas service. If you're open to either, see our split heat pump lineup for more options at every tier.

Legacy model prefix: 4TTR4
Previously sold as the XR15 AC with model numbers starting with 4TTR4 (R-410A). Current models use the 5TTR4 prefix with R-454B refrigerant.
