Trane Premier 20 Gas System
Formerly XV20i
The Trane Premier 20 gas system pairs the highest-efficiency variable-speed air conditioner in Trane's lineup (formerly the XV20i) with a compatible gas furnace. It shares the same variable-speed technology as the Premier 18 but pushes cooling efficiency even higher.
As with the heat pump version, the real-world cooling comfort experience is nearly identical to the Premier 18. The additional efficiency saves roughly $100-150 per year on cooling costs, but the price premium means a long payback period. For most homeowners who want variable-speed gas cooling, the Premier 18 is the better value.

Is This the Right System for You?
Ideal For
The Premier 20 gas system makes sense for homeowners who want the absolute highest cooling efficiency available, plan to stay 10+ years, and want gas heating with premium variable-speed cooling.
Consider an Alternative If
The Premier 18 delivers 95% of the cooling comfort at a meaningfully lower price. The additional efficiency savings are real but modest. Unless maximum efficiency is your primary goal regardless of ROI, the Premier 18 gas system is typically the better value in the variable-speed tier.
A2L Refrigerant Transition
Legacy model prefix: 4TTV0
Previously sold as the XV20i AC with model numbers starting with 4TTV0 (R-410A). Current models use the 5TTV0 prefix with R-454B refrigerant.
